We are proud to announce Exploring Surrey’s Past for Surrey County Council. This 10 month project mapped 16 different databases, from Historic Environment Record, Archives, Museums and local history societies into a common cross searchable data standard. Almost 1GB of data was indexed into the website, which includes ‘mashups’ of this data via GIS connections and Live maps and MIT’s timeline application. We integrated with English Heritage’s thesaurus a structured vocabulary and thematic structure which is augmented by user ‘folksonomic’ tagging and commenting on records. Whilst still much to do, the project is now live at www.exploringsurreyspast.org.uk

We’ve launched a database driven artist website using our SiteSync Gallery system for artist Jennifier Brereton at www.jenniferbrereton.co.uk which includes e-commerce facility.

We are pleased to say that a 3 year mapping project for the Concert Programmes Project (2004–07), funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and hosted by Cardiff University and the Royal College of Music is now complete and live at www.concertprogrammes.org.uk . The database is hosted by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council via the Orangeleaf developed Cornucopia RSLP CLD platform. This project involved us creating a Visual Basic application for data capture offline, that then synchronised multiple datasets into one before connecting and importing to the Cornucopia based online database.

We’ve been busy completing www.carbongame.org . This carbon trading game is a pan-European project funded by the EU. The game provides an exciting stimulus for students to explore one solution to climate change – carbon trading. This is based on a market solution to reduce carbon emissions using the principle of cap & trade. In the game teams of students from across Europe play the role of Carbon Traders buying carbon through an online auction. The system makes use of sophisticated Flash server technology and is hosted on a multiply redundant server setup behind loadbalancers.

We’re pleased to say we’ve launched our SiteSync CMS hosted site for Staffordshire Probation Service, providing full details of the service to visitors, at www.staffordshireprobation.org.uk
