Environmental Policy

We are committed to continuously reducing our impact on the environment, and have a stated aim of being carbon neutral by 2015.  We’ve significantly reduced our environmental impact and carbon footprint by implementing:

Dedicated Server Power Consumption Reduction

Virtualisation Thin Client Green Computing StudiosWe’ve used virtualisation technologies to reduce 8 dedicated development servers into two high efficiency servers in our studios, and 4 production servers onto one.  Our development servers now feature power management features and we’re aiming at a 60% consumption reduction.  We’re working towards a 100% renewable energy supplied data centre, but in the meantime offer carbon offsetting for hosting clients.

Offices now powered from 100% renewable energy

carbon neutral electricity in our studiosOur new offices have a 100% renewable energy supply with much higher levels of natural light.  Wherever possible we are trying to reduce our electricity usage using environmental monitoring and smart systems.

Travel Reductions

A third of the workforce now walk or cycle to the office, and we offset the rest.  We have implemented a policy of homeworking via VPN where this is practical for design and development staff, with some staff working from home one or more days per week.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

We aim to run a paperless office and recyleOur new offices have a recycling facility for bottles, paper and cans and we have implemented a near paperless office policy and only where legally required will we print documents. When printing materials such as leaflets and brochures we encourage our clients to have vegetable based inks and stock from sustainable sources.
