ShrewD Museum Collections Management Software

Developed in conjunction with Shrewsbury Museums Service, ShrewD uses open source technologies to help lower the barriers to powerful Collections Management Software.

Based around a Linux, MySQL, PHP and Java architecture, ShrewD offers true, through the browser management with no per seat client licencing. To provide massive scalability, the product integrates the latest cacheing acceleration and optimisation tools.

A structure builder facility allows museums to extend beyond the core structure to provide close coupling to the individual institution's processes. Out of the 'box' the system provides entry, accession, valuation, loan, deaccession, location, subject (vocab.) and digital reproduction (image, video, audio, multimedia) record management. As well as item level recording, the system provides collection level data handling too: with both concepts of 'physical' and 'virtual' collections. Licenced by bandwidth / disk allocation: administrate on any i-net connected machine, at any time, by any number of staff.
